Established in 1986, the Sarasota County Arts Council's mission is to create an environment where the arts flourish. It is a membership-based, private, non-profit organization that serves the public, artists and arts organizations throughout the county.

Advocacy: We partner with local, state and federal educational and governmental bodies for arts-related legislation |

Promotion: We promote the rich, artistic uniqueness of Sarasota County to local, regional, state and national audiences |

Coordination: We coordinate artists, arts groups and the community to work together |

Education: We encourage the arts-related education of students, audiences and arts professionals |

Access: We encourage all audiences and all artists who wish to participate in the arts in any way, at any level |
Our goals are:
- To strengthen the arts as one of Sarasota's key industries and civic resources
- To engage all Sarasota County in the arts
- To make Sarasota County a preeminent arts destination
